Face Covering Storm
This genuine 80s cotton fabric features abstract loosely drawn shapes in muted shades. This is a handmade face covering made from two layers of cloth and not a medical grade mask. The outer layer is made from densely woven cotton and the inside is a softer cotton with a high thread count both of which are thought to reduce the spread of droplets in the air. The mask has an opening inside for an optional filter which is not supplied. Although it is possible to buy filters, you can improvise but the material chosen should be a bonded fibre rather than woven or knitted e.g. coffee filters, vacuum bags, dressmaking interfacing or J cloths. The elastic loops can be knotted or even cut and tied to ensure best fit. There is an extra length of elastic supplied to thread through both loops and tie at the back if preferred – this can save rubbing on the ears and may give a neater fit. Care should be taken when removing a face covering and frequent washing is recommended. Dimensions: W:20cm D:11cm opening to 19cm. Masks are made to order; number shown in stock is an indication of fabric quantity available. Update: Masks now come with a stitiched channel near the top edge for an optional nose bridge wire and will come with a complimentary one which may need replacing in time.
